About Dr Umar Farooq
Dr. Farooq earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1999 and continued his educational journey, completing an Honours degree of Master of Science in Surgery in 2002 with high distinction. In 2009 he enrolled in a continued skilled-training enhancement program through the Ontario Veterinary College while practising as a veterinarian in Ontario. Much like his father, who was also in the veterinary profession, Dr. Farooq has travelled throughout Canada, expanding his experience in small animal practice, mixed animal practice, emergency medicine, and 24-hour crisis care.
He has practised as far east as St. John's, Newfoundland, as well as across Northern and South Eastern Ontario, and provided associate veterinarian services at Banfield Pet Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Ongoing education and continued specialized skill development remain a commitment of Dr. Farooq, who is a member of the Quinte District Veterinary Association (QDVA) and a professional member in good standing of both the American and Canadian Veterinary Medical Associations, having completed internships in Southern California to refine his skills in emergency and surgical practice.
Dr. Farooq fell in love with Kingston and the surrounding area, where he settled his young family and opened his own private practice. As an active father of two young boys, he understands the love animals bring as extensions of our homes. At EastSide Veterinary Services, he works passionately to ensure the best of care for your cherished pet.
